FAQ

New country. Familiar questions.

FAQ →
Can I get a mortgage as an expat?

It may be possible. Lenders assess income, debts, residence status and the property. We review your individual circumstances before discussing suitable options.

Do I need a permanent employment contract?

Not always. A temporary contract may be accepted with the right evidence. Self-employed income needs a different assessment. The requirements vary by lender.

How much can I borrow?

That depends on income, financial obligations, interest rates, the property and lender criteria. A personal assessment is more useful than a simple salary multiplier.

What is NHG?

Nationale Hypotheek Garantie is the Dutch mortgage guarantee scheme. It can offer a safety net in certain circumstances. Eligibility, property limits, fees and residence requirements apply; we check the current rules for your case.
